Our Story

My name is Duane Larkin, and 1776 Publishing is the result of a lifelong love of stories and a deep desire to help indie authors bring their work to life in the most immersive way possible. As a proud U.S. Army veteran, I believe in the power of clear communication, attention to detail, and getting it right the first time. Those values guide everything we do here.

I created 1776 Publishing because too many talented authors struggle to turn their books into high-quality audiobooks. I wanted to build a service that nurtures every project with the care it needs — whether it’s a short story, a novella, or a full-length novel.

Jabu is our creative voice-design wizard. With a subtle South African flair and the soul of a sound designer, he helps authors craft unique, custom voices for their characters. He gets genuinely excited when a voice feels just right — which is impressive, considering he doesn’t actually have ears.
